Phil Bryant, Executive Editor
Dr. Phil Bryant is an Assistant Professor of Management and Marketing at Columbus State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Management at the University of Memphis. Dr. Bryant has extensive consulting, management and entrepreneurial experience with companies such as American Home Shield, Monogram Foods Solutions and SCB Computer Technology. His primary research, teaching, and consulting activities are concentrated around human resource management and servant leadership. Dr. Bryant's research in managing employee turnover has won the Academy of Management Perspectives' Best Paper Award (2010) and the Academy of Management's Outstanding Practitioner-Oriented Publication Award (2011). His co-authored book, Managing Employee Turnover was published by Business Expert Press in 2012.
Steve Brown, Founding Associate Editor
Dr. Steve Brown is an Assistant Professor of Management at Georgia Gwinnett College. He earned his Ph.D. in Management at Auburn University. Dr. Brown also has an MBA and undergraduate degrees in business, history, and secondary education. Before pursuing his Ph.D., Dr. Brown was an entrepreneur. He owned a retail clicks-and-mortar business (comics, hobbies, games, etc.), a publishing business (books and games), and a service business (refinishing business). His primary research and teaching is centered around entrepreneurship, small business management, strategic leadership, organizational change, leadership, and organizational behavior. His other research interests include servant leadership, organizational opinion leadership, conflicting institutional demands, and technology-related organizational change.
Victor V. Claar, Associate Editor
Dr. Victor V. Claar is a Professor of Economics at Henderson State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics at West Virginia University. Dr. Claar is coauthor of Economics in Christian Perspective: Theory, Policy, and Life Choices (IVP Academic, 2007), and his articles appear in several peer-reviewed economics journals. He recently finished writing a new book for the Acton Institute about fair trade, which has also been translated into the Polish language. His other current research projects involve economic education and applied empirics. His chapter on “Ethics and Economics” appears in a new award-winning reference handbook from Sage. Dr. Claar also spent a sabbatical year (2006-2007) as a Fulbright Scholar at the American University of Armenia, conducting research and giving lectures to MBA students, as well as to students pursuing a master’s degree in political science.
Kevin Hurt, Associate Editor
Dr. Kevin Hurt is an Assistant Professor of Management at Columbus State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Management at the University of Texas-Pan American. Dr. Hurt’s research interests are in leadership, conflict, and the impact of servant leadership on strategic change. Dr. Hurt has over 15 years of industry experience, working for two Fortune 500 companies in the Manufacturing and Finance industries. He also served 6 years with the 4th Marine Division, USMC, where he was nationally recognized for his leadership abilities. Dr. Hurt is a current member of the Academy of Management and was recently acknowledged as an Outstanding Reviewer for the Organizational Behavior division.
Kathleen Patterson, Associate Editor
Dr. Kathleen Patterson currently directs the Doctor of Strategic Leadership program and has been at Regent University since 1999, with the School of Business & Leadership. Dr. Patterson is noted as an expert on servant leadership. She coordinates an annual Servant Leadership Research Roundtable in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at Regent University, where, each year both scholars and practitioners meet together to engage in servant leadership discourse. She also has co-coordinated two Global Servant Leadership Roundtables; the first one (2008) with Dirk van Dierendonck at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and the second one with Dirk van Dierendonck and Sen Sendjaya at Monash University in Melbourne Australia. Dr. Patterson is involved in numerous consulting projects locally, nationally and abroad.
Neal Thomson, Associate Editor
Dr. Neal Thomson is a Professor of Management at Columbus State University, where he has been a faculty member since 1994. He earned his Ph.D. at Florida State University. Prior to entering graduate school, Dr. Thomson worked in retail management for The Home Depot. Dr. Thomson has twice been the recipient of the Turner College teaching award, has also been awarded the Turner College Service Award and has recently been awarded the Outstanding Educator Award by the Academy of Educational Leadership. Dr. Thomson has authored 15 journal articles, a chapter in the book Advances in Attribution Theory and numerous conference proceedings.
TJ Thompson, Editorial Assistant
TJ Thompson is an undergraduate student of the Turner College of Business at Columbus State University, pursuing his bachelor's degree in Management. TJ will graduate with his bachelor's degree in May of 2017 and plans to continue his education by pursuing his Master of Science in Organizational Leadership degree at Columbus State as well.
